About
I founded the South Texas Grapevine Nursery in 2019 when the new Pierces Disease-resistant varieties became available for commercial distribution. After working in Oregon for several years building nursery mother blocks and managing vineyards, I moved back to San Antonio Texas. The thriving economy of Texas, the love of Texas Wine, and the new availability of Pierces disease-resistant vines told me that this would be a good opportunity to continue my love for growing vines, producing grapes, and making wine.

I planted all 5 varieties in the spring of 2020 and they did very well as own-rooted vines. I have sandy soil which has just been tested by Texas A& M and has shown to be free of parasitic nematodes. The nature of the sandy soil will also make it almost impossible for phylloxera to take hold on my site. Combine that with being an isolated site, not in proximity to any other vineyards, and my vines are sure to stay as virus and vector clean as possible. There are no water sources nearby so the Pierces disease vectors will not be as strong as in some other areas. I'm telling you all this because I want you to know that you will be obtaining very clean material from me.
